Schrankenstein lives
Mar 29th, 2006 by B.
No way around it, those fuckers at Ikea are evil. I should have known something was up when I read the founder was a former nazi sympathizer. In the showroom shrankenstein looked deceptively simple. I liked the zenness of it, plus I have a deep love of the color gray… so, take it home I did (hmmm, I think I just morped into yoda).
I swear, next to child birth this damn closet has got to be one of the hardest thing I’ve ever done. And just like all evil monsters, it tried to kill me. As I was inserting plug z into slot 1197, package 23 (containing two very heavy doors) mysteriously fell… overturning a can of paint I’d been using for touch-up and landing squarely on my bare ankle. Within 10 minutes my entire foot ballooned to five times its normal size.

I should have known when they delivered it… nothing that arrives in this many boxes can come to good.

I had to memorialize this moment. When was the last time you bought something in america that was actually made in america?

Sadly, this was all we managed to get done before the movers arrived.

This was about where I was when schrankenstein tried to kill me…

Finally… it lives!!!

The last photo was taken from the vantage point of lying in bed with my foot propped on a pillow. I should probably go to the doctor, but I don’t think that’s in the cards right now. Instead I’ll hobble around unpacking boxes, with lots of net surfing/bed resting breaks. You know, this foot thing could end up being a blessing in disguise.

Ouch! On itially seeing the picture of your ankle, at first, it looked like something else…….Don’t ask! lol….Ankle pain is a horse’s arse, hope it’s feeling better soon B
I never knew that the Ikea owner was a Nazi sympathizer……Jeez, the things you learn about on the net
Well, he did eventually apologize…

I told you those schranken were evil.
That’s gonna need ice & elevation.
btw … nice looking cabinets !
Hope the ankle/foot is getting better. We always have schranks delivered and built now, well any kind of furniture actually. I am really bad at building things, and get rather annoyed/angry during the process when it goes wrong. I actually got the chainsaw out of the cellar once to teach some wooden garden furniture who was the Boss! - since then all furniture gets delivered and built. Its more expensive but my wife figures its safer……ok time for my meds!
