Ok, world’s dumbest question. I just ordered a bunch of stuff on amazon.de and I’m wondering… when deutsch post rings & tells me they have a package, after buzzing them in am I then supposed to walk down the five flights of stairs to pick up my package? Or are they supposed to bring it to my top floor flat?
With deliveries in the past I’ve always waited for them to bring it to me, but I noticed they seemed surlier than usual. I’m not sure if it’s the hike up the stairs (which is enough to piss anyone off) or if it’s the fact that I’m the dumb american bitch who can’t walk her lazy ass downstairs like she’s supposed to.

That IS a good question, actually. Yes, they’re supposed to bring it to you, even if they are very cranky and don’t feel like it. They’ll basically ring any door bell to get in, but the package has your name on it so they’re required to come to your door. It’s, like, their job, you know?

What? My Swiss postie rings the bell and if I don’t come downstairs he takes it away again. Pfft! typical Swiss.

You deserve the door to door service. Sometimes they’ll get sneaky and ring a neighbor on the first or second floor and pretend you’re not home and leave it with them.
