Who says you can’t go home?
May 30th, 2006 by B.

A young, idealistic me with my mother some thirty years ago… taken outside our flat in Heidelberg. I remember being in awe of the castle there. Also playing in the witches tower & running through the apple orchards. They were, for the most part, extremely happy years.
We moved to Heidelberg the summer I turned five and lived there for almost six years, followed by another year and a half in France. When we finally left for america I feared I’d never find my way back here again. And yes, it took a lot of years, but friday evening we leave for a long weekend in Heidelberg.
I absolutely can’t wait.

A striking photo there B.
I’m glad that your wishes of returning are coming true and hope that Heidelberg still holds some of that same magical fascination from youth.
Have a wonderful adventure !
now you should take a similar shot with you and iddy… well, the snow may be a bit difficult… but still…
Enjoy Heidelberg. I haven’t been there for a few years, but have always enjoyed my visits there.
Excellent idea Jeannie …
B. … do you know the old address ?
Not a clue. And that was early in the process of my parents addling their brains with drugs and alcohol, so I’m thinking they wouldn’t remember even if I were willing to ask them. Kind of sad, really. But it’ll be enough to know I’m back again. I told Iddy I was her age when I lived in Heidelberg and the concept blew her away… I think her first comment was “wow, heidelberg really IS old”. lol
LOL Heidelberg is OLD?
Have a fantastic trip down memory lane…
I don’t know the relationship between you and your parents (and am not asking), but if there’s a chance they might know the address, I recommend calling them and finding out. What a thrill it would be for you and your daughter to have a pic like that of you and your mom.
