Freshman 16.

In the four months since we’ve arrived in Germany I’ve managed to pile on 16 pounds. This revelation is made even worse by the fact that I was actually losing weight for the first 6 weeks we were here. I don’t even want to do the math figuring out what my gain per week has been… but I do know that at this rate I’m going to look like I ate Kirstie Alley by christmas.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, I went this morning to find a pair of pants that didn’t feel like a vice when I tried to snap & zip them… only to discover a few extremely disturbing facts.
(a) I now wear a size 42 (and some of those were even tight)… what the fuck? Brando at the bitter end probably didn’t even wear a 42. The shame.
(b) The larger your size, the more you pay. The capri pants I bought in a size 34 would only have been 24,99… but since my fat ass is currently sporting a 42 I was forced to shell out 28,99. That’s right, I’m paying a premium for portliness. Soueeee.
So, as of this coming monday… goodbye lovely little kaseknacker, ritter sport bars, yummy creamy garlic breads & delicious pastries. Hello lettuce and diet jellos. Goodbye long, leisurely evening strolls… hello elliptical trainer & crunches.
It’s time I exercise a little control over myself before Jim has to roll me around like Violet Beauregarde in Willie Wonka.

Don’t feel bad, I just looked it up and I wear a german size 50. So there! I had to laugh at the part about looking like you ate Kirstie Alley! Ha!
Ohhh… the Käseknacker. I miss them so much (always had them in Bavaria, but they don’t have them here… damn you Rheinland). So delicious… especially grilled. You really want to give them up??
It’s not that I want to give them up… more that I don’t want to end up one big knacker myself. lol
I lost weight this year by working out a bit (once a week) and trying to eat low fat (the low fat cheeses and salami dont taste too bad) and stopping eating crap, like crisp (chips), biscuits (cookies) and high sugar snacks.
It was and is a easy thing to do, and the wieght loss is slow but steady.
BTW my shoe size is 42!
