Ok, before I lay out our vacation plans I’ll state up front that I’m sure most people don’t care. Still, maybe some of you (hell… most of you probably) have been to one or more of these places and could have valuable information to impart. Things like… oh no, don’t go to […]

This morning Jim’s boss agreed to a week’s (plus a day!) vacation at the beginning of august (a full month before his probationary period is up)!! May not seem like much to some of you, but we’re thrilled… we’ve been chomping at the bit to collect stamps in our passport.
This vacation is made even […]

As we were driving home this evening Jim and I had a long talk about where we wanted to live after his current three-year contract expires. It’s clear to both of us (at least it is right now… four months in) that returning to america isn’t even a blip on the radar screen. […]

One of my neighbors, I swear, is nuts. I see her probably 4-6 times a week and each time… it doesn’t matter what time of the day it is… I could be checking mail mid-afternoon, returning from an evening walk, or running to grab something out of the car in the morning… she is […]

As I read THIS story today I was surprised by how angry it made me. It really struck a nerve. Maybe it’s due to the fact that I now know what it’s like to be in the minority. That I struggle with a new language (and therefore know how difficult it is […]

**Archipelago-** Cool word. Wish I could fit it into casual conversation more often. And by ‘more often’ I mean… at all.
**Megalomaniac-** Once, long ago, I accused an asshole boss of being a megalomaniac. He thought I was calling him a serial killer. Good times. : )
**Gravitas-** I probably love this […]

Today is a low inspiration day. I’ve started at least 4 entries, but they all sucked so I scrapped them. Instead I decided to inventory my current dvd collection, which is getting pretty damn big (almost 500 now!). Anyway, an easy blog entry was the result… off the top of my head, here […]

What we give up living in the happening part of town (space, parking, balcony) we more than make up for in vicarious thrills, fireworks displays & free concerts.
This has never been more apparent than now… during world cup fever. We live within walking distance of the Elbe, there are 4 bars within a block, […]
