Brief intermission.

Just a quick note to say I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth… I should be back to posting nonsense by the end of the weekend. Sydney being in kindergarten has made me realize two things. First, sticking to a schedule’s a real bitch. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to and now I remember why I hated it.
Second, never in a moment of weakness when you see your little girl in her classroom sitting there so sweetly an innocently… never volunteer to “help out” in hopes of sneaking in a few extra moments with your baby. Because those teachers will put your ass to work. Today I was sorting library books for hours… my back is killing me, I’m pretty sure my arches fell sometime after lunch (which I didn’t eat, by the way, because I was too busy) and I had to use a midget-sized toilet that smelled like stale, wet gummy bears.
And now that I’m obviously walking around with a big neon ’sucker’ sign on my forehead, I couldn’t help but notice the president of the PTA eyeing me up like I was a weak gazelle easily separated from the pack. I see the writing on the wall… if I don’t claw my way out by weeks end I’m a goner. Say a prayer for me, and if you don’t hear from me soon, send in reinforcements.
On this day..

I hope the neon sign doesn’t clash with your hair color.
Volunteer once … donate once … they have you for life.
Run … and don’t look back.
At sixteen, when you imagined your life, did you think you’d ever be one of the “volunteer moms”? Yeah, me neither.
Wow… she must have been snarred in one heck of a volunteer trap…
Is she still alive?
