Since it was as clean as it would probably ever be, I snapped some photos of our flat before our compant arrived. Pretty much they’re boring, but I always love seeing the homes of others… so here you go.
Oh, Jeanni, there are some ‘what’s in the fridge’ pics for mr. J. Plus, I miss you. Just wanted you to know that.
Here goes…
Living Room:
This is the coffee table we bought at Ikea not too long ago. I think it weighed about 800 pounds and we had to lug it up 5 flights of stairs. Ugh.

Looking out into the back part of the living room. You can see our mini-blockbuster store & the elliptical trainer I use every day for at least 45 minutes. Ok, that last part about using the trainer every day was complete bullshit… but it sounded better than saying it was a really expensive clothes rack. Which is basically what it is.

A little further back toward the desk. The mask on the wall we bought in Venice, it’s a medicine mask. Pretty cool story behind it. Oh, and the globe by the desk is a globe of the surface of the moon… I know, we’re nerds.

Looking toward the other side of the living room. Cd central. I also really love the painting.

View when sitting on the couch. You can see the lithograph I was talking about in a previous entry. It’s pretty cool.

Table & closer look at the lithograph. That’s also my favorite vase.

My favorite Buddha. He sits in the center window… which I’m told is good feng shui.

From sitting at the desk…

Probably the most interesting part of this photo is the thing that looks a little like a didgeridoo. It’s actually a Tibetan flute that makes a beautiful, deep sound. I also have a Tibetan singing bowl and a set of chimes.

The singing bowl is sitting on top of the speaker. To the right is the entrance hallway for our flat.

More of the entryway… more books! I have books shoved in just about every corner of our flat.

Our bedroom:
I was in the process of making the bed. Hmmmm, it still looks messy in this picture. What’s up with that? Must be all the shoes under the bed. Aren’t the paintings above the bed cool though?

Get a little closer, now don’t be shy…

The foot of our bed. Syd’s computer station is off to the right. To the left you can see our air conditioner. We’ve got it venting into the attic… which explains the hose placement.

Sydney’s computer area.

My side of the bed.

Looking across to Jim’s side of the bed.

Finally, view from the bed…

The kitchen:
Our kitchen is long & narrow… and small. Mostly it’s just small. I don’t really mind, though, as it gives me another excuse to stay out of it. Oh, the coffee maker is ugly & new… just bought it that day for my mother-in-law. Coffee is gross.

I’m sure I got major points off for the caked on food spots, but…. fuck it.

More of the kitchen… yawn.

This shelf system we got from Ikea. It’s pretty cool… Ikea is still evil though.

Looking from the other end of the kitchen… complete with cezanne-like fruit bowl.

We bought an extra fridge because the one in the flat is so tiny by our standards. Since the fridge wouldn’t fit in the kitchen, it’s in the hallway directly across from the kitchen. The door to the left is the storage room… complete with deep freezer & ebayed american food.

The next 2 are for Mr. J… who, rumor has it, likes to peek inside refrigerators. The first is our german-sized fridge.

Wow… we have a lot of parmesan cheese.
Sydney’s Room:
I’m getting lazy, so I’ll just add one comment & a lot of pictures… a room fit for a princess.

Robbie’s Room:
We still haven’t painted a mural on Robbie’s wall… she’s changed her mind many times about what she wants. I think right now she’s leaning toward an Andy Warhol/Marilyn Monroe theme.

Bathrooms:
Bathrooms are boring, but here you go… we’ve got two.

We also have a laundry room, but I must have forgotten to get pictures of it. Just close your eyes and imagine a washer with a dryer stacked on top of it. Next to it some shelves with blankets & stuff on them.

i miss you too… love seeing the pictures, i’m still trying to get over how orderly your fridge is… wow.
is it the lighting, or is your bedroom… (gasp)… pink?
why does everything look cooler outside the states… even the mac n cheese somehow seems to have more panache when sitting on foreign shelves…
p.s. i do love the lithograph…
Egad…. my bedroom lights look pink?? They’re amber colored… pink would give me hives. And maybe the mac & cheese looks cooler because it’s so much more expensive here. We pay about 2,30 euro (almost $3.00) per box… and I don’t even like the stuff. Damn kids.. lol
not the lights… the walls.
and you know the sad part is it has been so long since i’ve been in a grocery store (ok, that part isn’t sad)… i really have no idea if 3 dollars for a box of m&c is high or not… needless to say i’m not going on the price is right anytime soon.
Very nice! Love the roofline! I loved seeing your house but assume no one would want to see mine… but maybe I should re-think that — it makes for a great post!
Blogger HATES pictures and text together, though — at least for me. How do you manage to align them just right?

The family abode looks great B, so when might we be seeing a family portrait next? Looks like you have some very funky & eclectic tastes, I too love the litho, very tres chic!
What a great home you have! I really enoyed seeing all of it!
Excellent, everyone has a plasma screen on the wall. Absolutely fabulous.
