For all my american pals… don’t be a jive turkey, have a great thanksgiving! And once the tryptophan kicks in, sit back, watch a ball game & revel in your four-day weekend. As for me, I’ll be reveling in the fact that I won’t be tempted to drag my sorry ass out of bed at 4:00 a.m. to hit the early-bird after thanksgiving sales. No such thing in Dresden.

The Eurotrippen household is celebrating Jim’s 32nd birthday today. Birthdays are interesting things in deutschland. It’s expected on your birthday that you’ll provide cake, drinks, other forms of merriment for your pals/co-workers. Naturally Jim swore me to secrecy so he wouldn’t have to do any of the above… I kind of like it though. It’s almost like saying “Gee, I’m sorry I was born and added further to germany’s tax burden…. here, have some cake.”
