Please don’t let her SATs reflect this…

How public education is failing our children:
Robbie: Mom, where are we going for vacation this summer?
Me: We’ve narrowed it down to either Greece or Spain.
Robbie: Ohhhh, Spain! Spain! Spain!
Me: Really, why so excited?
Robbie: Because it borders Texas and I might be able to get some of my friends to come and meet me there.
Me: Uh, that’s Mexico you’re thinking of honey.
Robbie: But I thought Mexico was in Spain…
Me: Oy.

ouch.
This reminds me of my brother-in-law– he went to Cuba for vacation and when he came back he wrote us an email exclaiming “… and they speak Mexican there just like they do in SPAIN!”
LMAO!
EEEP
Oh lawdy.
Sounds like that German guy who ended up in Sidney, Montana instead of Syndey, Australia. At least no one put her in charge of buying plane tickets.
Geography may be one of those things that just doesn’t stick in the brain. My brother is a wilderness guide, and works all across the American West, and he’s always amused by the Americans from the north who think that New Mexico is part of Mexico. Yes way.
