I know, I know… I bitch about this too often, but here are my latest recommendations from iTunes:
1. Sunny Road - Emiliana Torrini (i have no clue who this is, but the song sucks)
2. I Want Candy - Bow Wow Wow (never… never… never… NEVER)
3. Owner Of A Lonely Heart - Yes (see above)
4. Ain’t No Sunshine - Bill Withers (ok, I don’t hate it, but I also don’t want to own it and can’t imagine what in my buying history would make them think I would)
5. Help Me - K.D. Lang (kd singing joni mitchell… it’s like a bad dream wrapped in a nightmare)
6. Free Man In Paris - Joni Mitchell (i’m not fundamentally opposed to joni mitchell, but a little goes a long way)
7. We Will Become Silhouettes - The Shins (there’s only one shins song i’ve ever even halfway liked, and this isn’t it)
8. Cannonball - Damien Rice (just can’t get into the guy… he seems superficial and cliché to me)
9. Let Him Fly - Patty Griffin (yawn)
10. Fade Into You - Mazzy Star (i’d rather stab my eardrums repeatedly with a knitting needle than listed to this song)
11. Pink Moon - Nick Drake (no thanks)
12. Tainted Love (7″ Single) - Soft Cell (this one keeps showing up in my ‘just for you’ section… I blame Jim)
Some of those songs/artists I am familiar with, some of them, never heard of………What’s wrong w/ YES? Not that I own any of their stuff, but the odd song I’ve heard of theirs isn’t too bad, lol….
I don’t blame you about the Soft Cell song, I so hate that one & it’s one of the few I’d jam knitting needles into my ears for….
I actually thought lately that I wouldn’t mind finding some Joni Mitchell…Just not sure which one to get…Generally tho, I’m with you in that, there isn’t a single song on that list that I’d go out of my way to buy
Joni Mitchell’s not horrible. In fact, her song ‘A Case Of You’ reminds me of Jim probably more than any other song out there. I just can’t take much in a single sitting…
As for Yes, I don’t know… they just don’t do it for me. And iTunes totally floors me with their shitty selections. They could make a fortune off me by introducing me to music I might not otherwise hear, but first they have to get it together and figure out how to link appropriate music to musical tastes.
