Turning the corner.

I’m still going to the gym 3 times a week and I’m still the grungiest girl there, but thankfully it finally seems to be making the tiniest bit of difference. I don’t know why my scale hated me last week and showed me up a few pounds, but as of today it’s down again and seems to be trending in the right direction. I’ve also been meatless for a few weeks now, mostly due to the severe trauma of a trip to a local farm and watching a documentary on how animals are killed and processed before they make it to our table. Not to mention it’s just healthier this way…
My first few weeks of non-meat-eating I was pretty bad though. Instead of concentrating on a healthier, holistic approach to food(s), I more or less existed on chips and baked potatoes. Fun, but not the wisest course of action when trying to lose weight. So this morning I picked up whole wheat pastas and veggies and fruits and tried to resist processed foods. My new rule is no meat and nothing fried (which does away with dietary filibusters like french fries and potato chips). Sweets have never been a huge trigger for me so… unless they end up becoming one… I’m not throwing down any sort of rules or regulations on them.
If consistency is the key, I’m thinking (hoping) soon I’ll be able to see a real difference when I look in the mirror.

If you are craving chips, try Knäckebrot. It’s very easy to find - I’ve seen different varieties (plain/sesame) in every grocery store. Usually near the cereal or bread section. They are whole wheat crackers, big enough to put cheese or marmalade on top. They are light and not too salty. I eat them with egg whites every morning for breakfast.
if you’ve been working out… it’s no big thing for the scale not to reflect your hard work right away… the whole building muscle thing…
but anyway… that’s great news… i’m not sure there is anything they could do to an animal that would make me not eat crispy bacon…
keep up the good work!
It was seeing an actual hog that turned me off of bacon for good. They’re gross, filthy, hairy, stupid, angry animals. I must be highly suggestible, because ever since my trip to the farm I haven’t been able to look at bacon/ham the same way…
I must visit the gym more often. I’m lucky if I get there 3 times in a month. I’m eating less meat and have been doing so for a while now. I’m just trying to eat a bit healthier.
Animals are not treated right in the slaughter house factories. Personally I’m prepared to kill what I eat and have slaughtered pigs and sheep whilst living in the Falklands and Ascsension. I think too many people nowadays do not appreciate that what is on your plate was once walking around going moo, baah or oink!
Congrats on the wieght loss. If you stick to the healthier eating and continue to excercise you will surely lose more!
B. When you’re ready to get really hardcore you should try green smoothies, 1 a day. They taste like ass at first, but once you get used to them they are actually pretty good and the health benefits are crazy. I’ve never seen such fitness gains as when drinking em. You sleep better, feel stronger, lose weight, and feel like a rock star all day long.
Favorite recipe: spinach, pear, apple, kiwi and some water.
