Good on you!

I’ve made a friend at my local gym. She’s Australian and only approached me after noticing I had an english-language magazine– figuring we at least had language in common. The best part about talking to her… her prolific use of the term “good on you” (sort of like good for you in america, only perkier and completely lacking sarcasm). I mean, she can work it into practically anything… You did 30 minutes of cardio, good on you!… Good on you for not caring you look like a wet hobbit after your workout… The toilet is down the hall to the left, good on you!… Good on you for parking around the corner… seriously, she can work it into anything.
And even though she looks nothing like Claire from Lost (my go-to image when I think ‘aussie’), she sounds exactly like her. You know, I bet it’s impossible for australians not to sound perky and optimistic. I’m really tempted to say my dog died the next time I run into her just to see if she can swing ’sad’.

Onya B! That’s another one
I love the Aussie accent, & I’ll be hearing a lot of it when I go to Aus next year, I so can’t wait….I also can’t believe it’ll be here before I know it, next March!
That’s ‘noise’
Way cool — I’m glad you located somebody near by to talk to!
Lisa- Where all are you going in Australia? We’re kicking around the idea of going next year too, but the flights are soooo long, not to mention expensive!
Yeah, no kidding about the expensive part……..B, I’ve emailed you, I’ll fill you in that way
