Reciprocating.

Ok, since I asked for song recommendations from all of you, I figure it’s only fair to offer up some of my own. Trying to stay away from music I’ve mentioned liking in the past (which eliminates most of my favorites… I talk about music A LOT), I went through my ‘recently played’ folder and here’s what I came up with… hopefully you’ll find something new you like:
Chemical Party - Gavin DeGraw. This is my Risky Business / slide across the floor in my socks and underwear song. I can’t listen to it without moving - a lot. I wanna be a sexy machine!
It’s Going - John Gold. Not just a song I love, but a mantra. One minute and forty-three seconds of perfection.
No One Knows - Queens Of The Stone Age. It hooks you from the start and never lets up. Great to listen to in the morning to get yourself going… far better than a cup of coffee!
I Turn My Camera On - Spoon. I have a whole bob & weave dance that goes with this one. If I’m pissed off or stressed, this is almost guaranteed to improve my mood.
The Lime Tree - Trevor Hall. It’s got a cool reggae vibe and nice use of a rain stick. Starts out really mellow and then he powers it out a little… and he’s only 17 or 18… crazy.
Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand. Sit through it without moving… I dare ya.
Lua - Bright Eyes. Brilliant lyrics. Sadly I can relate- even without the drug use. Love the part where he says ‘you can count on me to split’. How honest is that??
Butterfly Collector - John Gold. Love, love, love John Gold. This is a slow, moody number. And sometimes that’s just what you need. It’s one of my favorite songs to listen to while taking a long, hot bath.
Pass It On - The Coral. Great message to this song. When we’re in the car Syd and I crank it up and sing as loudly as we can.
Weapon Of Choice - Fatboy Slim. It’s older, but I don’t talk about Fatboy Slim nearly enough, so I figured I’d show them some love. Was instantly smitten the first time I heard Rockafeller Skank and love them still to this day. This also gets brownie points for having the best music video evvvur. And if you don’t instantly know what I’m talking about… shame on you!
Business Time - Flight Of The Conchords. Hilarious. What woman wouldn’t put out after being wooed with this song? (thanks, Lisa, for telling me about it)
Fuck Was I - Jenny Owen Youngs. Who hasn’t muttered ‘what the fuck was I thinking’? Great song, and Youngs has an interesting, unique voice.
On this day..
- My little goth queen. - 2007
