It’s a date.

The 3rd annual whiney expat blogger meet-up will be held the weekend of November 17/18th. Looking forward to meeting everyone and showing off Dresden - a truly beautiful city. If you’re planning on attending be sure to stop by J’s Blog and let him know, as he’s coordinating everything.
In addition please feel free to contact me (click ‘contact me’ tab in my sidebar) with any questions you might have. Jim and I should also be available to act as chauffeur to/from the train station or airport.

I might be able to come, in case you want a local there to complain to, e.g. about all the construction sites currently in Dresden.
Janine - I’d love for you to come! I was even planning to email you closer to time and personally invite you…
The construction is driving me crazy! Between that and whatever they’re doing to the tram lines, it’s now taking me 40 minutes to get to & from the international school (used to take 15).
okay…I’m thinking I’m going to jump head first into this ex-pat community! Pencil me in…

Esther
Esther - That’s great news! Looking forward to meeting you… and I think it’s wonderful you’re tackling your first (fairly) big trip so soon after moving to Germany.
Actually, I’m just coordinating the people. B is coordinating the event.
Essie and Janine, I’ll put you two on the list as possibles. Please let us know if that changes (preferably on the Meet-Up thread that B has linked to on my blog).
~sigh~ Last year it was on our anniversary weekend and we had already planned our trip to Amsterdam. This year we’ll be in the US (my first trip back home since moving). Some year in the future I may be able to attend…
Debbie - Wish we could have met you, but your first trip back to America totally trumps expats in Dresden. Eat lots of Taco Bell for me…
As hard as it is to admit it, Taco Bell is definitely on my list. And chili from Wendy’s. And Azteca and El Nopal Mexican restaurants. And Old Country Buffet (my German was just amazed at this… going back to get more food at your whim instead of paying for each gram of it, lol). And a good Indian lunch buffet. And some good Thai food! And Taco Bell again. And Taco Time. And Taco del Mar (Seattle area…. they make gigantic burritos that are SO good). Man, I hope my sister’s apt complex lets visitors use the exercise room ’cause I’m going to need to log about 3 hours on the elliptical machine every day to keep from gaining 20 pounds!!!!
hello i am a dresden resident. I would be happy to meet up when that is ok for you all. still i need to know where and when.
thanks
Hey Carson… good to hear from another Dresdener! The meet-up will be the weekend of November 17th/18th. I’m still not sure where & when we’ll meet as I’m not hosting it, only helping to show off some of Dresden’s natural beauty. When it gets closer to time I’ll post another entry with specific details…
In the meantime feel free to email me if you need additional info. How long have you been in Dresden? We’ve been here about a year and a half and absolutely love it.
Looking forward to meeting you…
