Mrs. Regensblog had awful, terrible allergies in the U.S. in the…Fall, or Spring, or both…I can’t remember…and so do most members of her family.

But since we moved here, they’ve been a thing of the past. My armchair allergist theory goes like this:

She’s mostly Irish and Croatian with a little German in there as well. Her peeps have been in North American only for a few (≤5) generations and therefore her mucous membranes aren’t genetically programmed to tolerate North American airborne pollen. But they had presumably thousands of years to get comfortable with Irish and Central European varieties. Therefore she doesn’t need medication for them here at all and our facial tissue consumption is way down compared to 4 years ago.

Sounds good, right? Total B.S., but it’s all I got. You can help substantiate my theory B., by confirming that you are at least partially of Native American stock.

Did you have allergies in the States? We had awful horrible allergies overseas, but not bad in the States. Actually, now that I live in the PNW, they are kind of bad — I guess I only built up tolerance for eastern US plants during my childhood.

I know what you mean, my nose hasn’t stopped running and my eyes itch since the first green appeared anywhere. My husband loves spring, me I’d just as soon give it a miss. I can’t take benadryl though, it’s bad for the heart. Soon it will be over…ciao

Um you should NEVER come to Georgia then, they say if you don’t have allergies, you will once you come here. Our pollen count has been in the 3000 range this month alone. Anything over 120 is considered extremely high. Just enjoy the spring beauty from inside

Yes the are very pretty, but yeah their prettiness comes at a price….Sorry to hear that you’re sneezing & weezing B, feel better soon…..As for Spring, I’d rather have Spring than freezing temperatures (again! aaaarrggg!) Bring on the heat waves already!
