Oh, I guess I should restate that. Boycotting isn't illegal PER SE, but TELLLING SOMEONE to boycott is. (Kind of hard to have an actual boycott if you don't rally others to do it, huh?). So one can personally and privately boycott and never encourage someone else to do it, but if you say "let's boycott this sh*tty store!" you're in deep doo doo. Again... and they say WE'RE crazy...

Doh! You better watch it there! This was one of the things I was going to rant about on my blog someday. Apparently in Germany if you say something as a command that involves someone's business "Don't eat at Joe's", "NEVER buy anything from _____" you may as well burn down their store. It's that German "personal rights" law thing. You are interfering with their right to do crappy business by telling others NOT to come to them. I'm actually not joking. You can say, "In my opinion, this online store sucks", but you can't say "Never shop at this online store" or the Germans will come haul you away or something. I thought Bunny was just ultra paranoid, but he mentioned to another German about how I once wrote "Do not search for a domain name with _____!" and they too were beyond shocked. "OMG! You NEVER do that in Germany!" Seriously, I'm not joking. But you can risk it if you want. I know I do. It's like boycotting. Boycotting is frickin' illegal in Germany (WTF?), as well as talking smack about someone. And they think WE'RE crazy. So much for free speech!

I had a similar problem. Not the same company, but a German company. Ordered a cuckoo clock online (I love them) and paid170$ for it and never received it. Emailed, called everything. They stopped returning our calls and emails. Finally had to get the bank to put a stop pay on the charge.

Send them a registered letter from some made-up lawyer. Or just tell them on the phone that they'll be hearing from your lawyer. This has always worked for us!

Well, it probably won't help get you your money back, but slamming the company in a blog post must have helped you feel a little better, no? :)
